Recent Events Green Goddess Herbal Circle A evening of empowering connection in a circle, exploring the wisdom of women, Divine Feminine, green healing, plant medicine & meditation. As a Green Goddess, you nurture an appreciation of nature's elements and enjoy a deep connection with the Divine Feminine. You are inspired by exploring natural ways to take exquisite care of yourself and others. Open to women of all faiths and none, you are warmly invited to gather in a sacred space with like minded women to celebrate our relationship with Mother Earth and her gifts. We are gathering on Friday 13th, a rare day of the year, rich with feminine symbolism, only appearing between one to three times every year. Although Fridays are shrouded in superstition, history and popular media as unlucky for some, especially when it falls on the 13th, the opposite is true in different cultures. It is considered a sacred day by many women who revere the Divine Feminine. Friday - Veneris in Latin- is linked with the planet Venus by cultures worldwide and the goddesses, Frija, Frigg & Freya of Norse Mythology; Venus, Roman goddess of love; Aphrodite in Greek Mythology. Goddesses Durga & Lakshmi are celebrated by on Fridays by Hindus. Despite various superstitions that the number 13 is both lucky and unlucky, it also has connotations with the feminine, linked with the number of lunar or menstrual cycles in a year. As a Green Goddess, we believe we create our own luck and claim this as a day to celebrate our gifts! Join us for an illuminating and empowering evening of sisterhood, self care, plant meditation, intuition, creativity and medicine making. Working intuitively with herbs allows us to connect deeply with the character or virtue of the plant, which is often overlooked in book-learning materia medica. Herbs are more than the sum of their parts, they can be our guides as well as our teachers, if we take the trouble to get to know them as individuals. Sitting silently and tuning into individual herbs we discover their virtues and their actions on our physical, emotional and mental bodies as well as their use in ritual and ceremony. What that gives us is a profound knowledge of the character of the herb, which we have experienced personally, so we can choose the correct remedy for treatment or exploration. Experiencing a herb in this way is a never to be forgotten experience, you will always remember how they made you feel. As teachers, herbs can show us our path, help us with our shortcomings and guide us on our healing journey. No experience needed, just an open mind and willing heart. Each day will be a stand alone experience while both days can be booked as a weekend immersion. We will be working with different plants each day and different ones from the previous workshops in Scotland. In this retreat we will consider the Magical Herbs of Winter - the element Water and the Phlegmatic humour. On Saturday: We will be working intensely with several phlegmatic herbs and how they affect our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual bodies. On Sunday: A more didactic day looking at the theory and practice of the element Water, the Phlematic humour and how to use it in your practice or as a tool in preventitive medicine. We will be working with material from Elisabeth's upcoming book: As Above, So Below - Traditional Western Herbalism (Aeon books, February 2019) About Elisabeth: Elisabeth Brooke qualified as a Medical Herbalist in 1980 with the National Institute of Medical Herbalists, winning the Pharmacology prize.
