At your first consultation, I listen to your herbal requirements and assess your overall physical, mental and emotional health. This takes up to 90 minutes, involving a detailed case history taking, exploring your current condition, past medical history, family history, medications, constitution, lifestyle, diet, and carrying out physical examinations where relevant.
A herbal prescription and treatment plan are discussed and given alongside lifestyle and nutritional advice, with consideration of contraindications with any current supplements or prescribed medications you may be on or alongside other treatments you may be receiving from other health care professionals.
Following your consultation, combinations of fresh, dry or extracted whole plants are prescribed to support the body's natural healing processes, as appropriate to the condition.
These may include roots, stems, barks, leaves, buds, flowers, fruits and seeds in the form of internal tinctures, teas, decoctions, tablets, powders, pastes or capsules, and external oils, creams, ointments, lotions, poultices, rinses or balms. The dose and combination of these are adjusted at follow up visits as the health condition progresses and improves.
For clients located within the UK, these are made up in a herbal dispensary and posted to you within 2-3 working days following payment of the prescription invoice. For clients located outside the UK, I will give you a list of herbs to order or source locally with directions on how to blend, prepare and take them.
Alongside your herbal medicine prescription, we create a holistic treatment plan together, including lifestyle & nutritional advice, designed to empower you with what you need to bring your own health back into balance. This is always done with consideration of your personal constitution, inclinations, allergies & sensitivities, medical history, medications, supplements and family history.
I promote an integrative approach, where possible working with and referring to your GP and other health care practitioners as a team to give you the best quality of care possible to promote your optimal health and holistic well being.
For a more comprehensive holistic health care program, where relevant I may recommend GP visits or further private sample testings where further investigations and diagnoses are required, such as for allergies, food sensitivities, gut health, and liver function.
Repeat visits to check your progress last up to 45 min and usually 2-4 weeks after the first visit. Future follow ups are arranged to monitor improvements in health at appropriate intervals until the condition is well managed or cleared, with the herbal prescription and dosages amended as required.
